— Product Description

Introduction

The Stellar Phono Preamplifier is PS Audio’s finest phono stage in over 45 years. Its fully discrete, all-analog design brings vinyl to life with astonishing detail, dynamics, and warmth. Dual inputs support both moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges, while remote-adjustable loading and gain ensure you get the perfect match for any turntable setup.

Design

Unlike most phono stages in this price range, the Stellar Phono employs a fully discrete FET circuit from input to output—no integrated circuits in the signal path. Class A analog circuitry, passive RIAA equalization, and hand-selected premium components deliver ultra-low noise, high overload tolerance, and more than 20 V RMS of output for headroom and dynamics that capture every nuance of your records.

Application

Whether you’re running a low-output moving-coil cartridge or a punchy moving-magnet design, the Stellar Phono delivers reference-level performance. Use it as the centerpiece of your high-end stereo or integrate it into a home theater setup. The included remote lets you switch between two tonearms and adjust cartridge loading and gain from your listening seat.

Technology Overview

  • Discrete FET Architecture: Eliminates the limitations of IC-based designs for lower noise and distortion.
  • Passive RIAA Curve: Ensures accurate equalization without added circuitry or capacitors.
  • High-Current Power Supply: Oversized transformer and multi-stage regulation provide stable voltage under any load.
  • Galvanic Isolation: Complete separation of all inputs, outputs, and power supplies to prevent ground-loop noise.

Key Features

  • Moving Magnet and Moving Coil support
  • Fixed and variable loading for cartridges
  • 70 dB ultra-low-noise gain (down to 0.15 mV cartridges)
  • Two inputs for up to two tonearms, remote-selectable
  • Single-ended RCA and balanced XLR inputs and outputs
  • All-discrete FET design with no ICs in the signal path
  • Class A analog circuitry with passive RIAA network
  • Hand-selected discrete components throughout
  • DC-coupled from input to output for maximum purity
  • Oversized power transformer and low-noise regulation
  • Included remote control for loading, gain, and input selection
