The DirectStream PowerPlant 20 is PS Audio’s flagship AC regenerator, engineered to deliver laboratory-grade power to the most demanding audio and video systems. By converting incoming mains to DC and regenerating pure, distortion-free sine-wave AC, it eradicates waveform anomalies, voltage sag, and noise—unlocking unprecedented dynamics, clarity, and low-frequency extension in any connected component.
Design
- High-Current Analog Power Amplifier: A heavyweight Class-A/B output amplifier recreates AC from scratch, using amplifier-style components rather than passive filters.
- Dual Regenerated Zones: Twenty outlets are divided into two independently controlled, fully regenerated zones to isolate sources, preamps, power amps, and digital gear.
- Rugged Construction: Thick copper busbars, robust power transformers, and a passively cooled, field-upgradeable chassis ensure decades of reliable service.
Application
With 2,000 VA of continuous output and 5,000 VA peak capability, the P20 supports multi-channel amplifiers, active subwoofers, network streamers, and digital processors—all from a single unit. Its dual-zone control lets you tailor turn-on sequencing, voltage settings, and protected vs. unregulated outlets for each component group, ensuring optimal startup behavior and maximum protection.

- Pure Sine-Wave Regeneration: Incoming AC is rectified to DC, then perfectly reconstructed into AC via a high-precision AnalogCell™ amplifier and FPGA-based sine-wave generator, eliminating distortion and jitter at the source.
- Low Output Impedance: With output impedance below 0.005 Ω, even the most current-hungry amplifiers draw power without sag or compression, preserving transient attack and bass impact.
- Integrated Monitoring & Control: A full-color touchscreen reports incoming versus outgoing voltage, distortion levels, power consumption, and THD. LAN connectivity enables remote monitoring and control via app or automation systems.
