Introduction
The Aspen FR20 brings flagship-level performance into small and medium-sized listening spaces. Sharing the same planar ribbon clarity and ultra-linear woofer technologies as its larger siblings, the FR20 delivers full-range response down to 28 Hz, exceptional transparency, and effortlessly detailed sound—in a package that’s surprisingly room-friendly and budget-conscious.
Design
Drawing on nearly 50 years of loudspeaker expertise, the FR20 features:
- Planar Ribbon Drivers: A matched pair of tweeter and midrange ribbons driven by symmetrical neodymium magnets for zero breakup, hysteresis, or inductive distortion.
- Long-Throw Woofers: Two 6.5″, high-excursion cone drivers with split magnetic gaps for tight, authoritative bass.
- Passive Radiators: Two rear-mounted, high-compliance radiators extend deep bass without port noise or compression.
- Phase-Correct Crossover: A carefully tuned network ensures seamless integration of ribbons, woofers, and radiators, preserving timing and coherence.
- Neutral Cabinet: A rigid, internally braced enclosure keeps coloration to zero, letting the music stand alone.
Application
Ideal for desktop systems, small living rooms, or as front/rear channels in multi-channel setups, the FR20’s boundary-tolerant design and included setup guide make placement and tuning straightforward. Just pair with any quality amplifier, follow the step-by-step instructions, and experience reference-grade dynamics and imaging with minimal fuss.
Technology Overview
- Planar Magnetics
Ultra-light diaphragms coupled to push-pull neodymium motors deliver crystalline highs and midrange without distortion. - High-Excursion Woofers
Split-gap cones driven by powerful magnet assemblies achieve bass extension to 28 Hz with precision and punch. - Passive Radiator Bass
Rear-mounted radiators absorb and re-emit low frequencies, extending bass response while avoiding port artifacts. - Cabinet and Crossover
Studio-grade bracing and a phase-correct crossover maintain perfect driver alignment and a flat impedance curve for easy amplifier driving.
