Introduction

Marking Accuphase’s 50th anniversary, the E-5000 is the flagship high-power Class AB integrated amplifier. Its fully balanced signal path—from input through volume control to power output—delivers 240 W into 8 Ω and 320 W into 4 Ω, presenting every musical nuance with authority, clarity, and zero coloration.

Design

Built on a massive, low-resonance aluminum chassis, the E-5000 separates analog and digital power supplies and mounts its toroidal transformer on vibration-damping feet. The preamplifier section employs dual Balanced AAVA™ vari-gain modules per channel for noise-free volume control, while the power amplifier section uses a five-fold parallel push-pull transistor array driven in Class AB to create a perfectly symmetrical, high-current drive stage.

Application

As a true integrated solution, the E-5000 accepts five line-level and two balanced inputs, offers record-loop outputs, and lets you switch stereo to mono or invert channel phase per input. In variable-output mode it can drive power amps or active speakers; in fixed-output mode it serves as a pure line stage. A dedicated headphone amplifier and two expansion slots permit optional DSP or phono modules, making it equally at home in two-channel and studio environments.
