Introduction
The DP-770 continues Accuphase’s legacy of digital playback excellence by combining a high-rigidity, precision-machined SACD/CD drive with an 8-channel MDSD/MDS⁺⁺ D/A converter built around ESS ES9028PRO chips. Enhanced vibration damping and the ANCC noise-cancellation circuit work together to deliver exceptionally pure, detailed, and dynamically lifelike audio from both SACD and CD media.
Design
Built on a solid, low-center-of-gravity aluminum chassis, the DP-770’s drive mechanism is mounted on viscoelastic dampers and driven by an outer-rotor brushless DC motor to minimize resonance and ensure rock-steady rotation. Internally, separate power transformers and logically laid-out circuit blocks isolate the digital conversion stage from the analog output stage, while high-carbon cast-iron insulators under the chassis further suppress external vibration.
Application
As a fully integrated SACD/CD player with its own high-performance D/A conversion, the DP-770 can serve as the centerpiece of any digital front end. Use its programmable playlist functions to curate extended listening sessions, and take advantage of both fixed and variable balanced outputs—or feed any downstream preamplifier or power amplifier directly. Its robust feature set also makes it at home in professional or high-end systems.
Technology Overview
- MDSD/MDS⁺⁺ Conversion: Eight ES9028PRO DAC chips per channel operate in parallel, combining Multiple Double-Speed DSD for native DSD signals and Multiple Delta-Sigma⁺⁺ for PCM to reduce noise and distortion.
- ANCC Noise-Cancellation: The Accuphase Noise and distortion Canceling Circuit actively detects and reverses unwanted noise components in the I-V converter stage for ultra-low noise floors.
- Direct Balanced Filter: Independent line and balanced output paths preserve signal integrity under varying loads, avoiding crosstalk and degradation.
- Precision Display & Control: The front-panel display shows sampling frequency and effective bit depth in real time, while a supplied RC-140 remote offers full transport and playlist control.
